In the new year so many great new singles have been released already, so many promises for great albums. Meanwhile, Idles and Whispering Sons have each released an amazing album, instant classics as it were. Lots of postpunk in this list, as in the past three years, with Whispering Sons at the top, but with Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and DARKER vintage synthpop is alive and kicking in 2024. Another successful return is that of Vampire Weekend, featuring two solid songs. Add to that St. Vincent and Bat For Lashes and it really makes me wonder if the Nillies are back. Bands to really keep an eye on are Maruja, Real Farmer and Nourished By Time. Discover more music here!
