Top 100 romans

Momenteel ben ik aan de maanden- en 1000 pagina lange literaire trip begonnen van David Foster Wallaces Infinite Jest, een kolossaal epos over verslaving, waar ik helemaal verslaafd aan dreig te geraken. Wat een waanzinnig boek tot nu toe! Het is ondertussen weer de tijd van het romanlijstje, traditioneel op deze blog in de maand juli (en nu dus met vertraging). We hebben weer heel wat gelezen het afgelopen jaar, maar in tegenstelling tot de vorige jaren komt de hoogste nieuwe pas op 38 binnen, namelijk Indignation van Philip Roth, een waar meesterwerk. Hierdoor valt zijn The Humbling er weer net uit. Ook Mark Twain en de recentelijk overleden Günther Grass halen de top 100 niet meer. Close but no cigar zijn de nochtans excellente romans van Hunter S. Thompson, B.S. Johnson en Carmien Michels. In elk geval kan ik jullie de 100 romans uit deze lijst stuk voor stuk warm aanbevelen.
